Giambattista Valli Fall 2025 Couture

The Giambattista Valli Fall 2025 couture review.

Almost nothing in the world of contemporary couture is as recognizable as a Giambattista Valli gown. These over-the-top, layered confections are full of joyous layering and extreme volume. Rendered in pale pinks, sunny yellows and baby blues, they swan around the wearer, creating a surreal effect that speaks purely of fantasy. So, it’s no wonder the Italian designer received the Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters title, bestowed by the French Ministry of Culture in tandem with his Giambattista Valli Fall 2025 Couture presentation last night.

This season, instead of the usual megawatt show in Place Vendôme, the brand staged an intimate presentation. Inspired by the muses depicted in the dreamlike paintings of Watteau and Fragonard and the golden age of 1950s haute couture, the collection’s story was all about sculptural fabric. Specifically, Valli looked to the lush settings and wide, swanning ball gowns seen in Watteau’s famous Fête galant paintings from the 18th century.

Valli used no boning or hard surfaces, instead building out over-the-top shapes by way of hand-pleating. The goal? To make every piece look as weightless and light as possible.
