Robert Wun Spring 2026 Couture

Robert Wun Spring 2026 couture review.

In the world of couture, Robert Wun has become the reigning surreal king of camp. Think: floor-skimming gowns covered in a galaxy of decaying glitter, or structured chest plates with masks and headpieces that verge on costumes for unusual characters from another land. The designer always pushes the boundaries of wearability and fantasy, but for spring 2026, he took it one step further. Models walked the stage inside a theater with a stormy backdrop that oscillated between different weather scenarios.

The theatrics were intentional: Wun set up his show as a conceptual three-part act centered around the themes of “library, luxury and valor”. The aim, he wrote in the show notes, “is to encompass a story of character building through couture craftsmanship. Each look is crafted to represent the three stages of emotion: to be inspired, to feel desired, and to have the courage to go forward.”

Couture is often best appreciated in real time, as it’s being worn and expressed by the person wearing it. Wun might just be one of the best case examples of this. It’s hard to appreciate the true decadence and beautiful impracticality of his sweeping gowns without seeing them in person. The sheer control of balance needed to wear them, the time devoted to simply moving in one, and the importance of the way the skirts themselves move, are all worthy of their own appreciation. The movement of a Robert Wun couture gown is distinct. Each piece takes on a life of its own.

Dramatic looks in cobalt blue, scarlet red and canvas white served as the perfect blank slates for the wonderfully exaggerated forms.
