A love letter to the Schiaparelli spring 2026 couture bird shoes.
Have you ever seen anything more strikingly and strangely beautiful than Schiaparelli’s spring 2026 couture bird heels?
For Schiaparelli’s most recent couture show, creative director Daniel Roseberry took inspiration from a fall trip to Rome, where he took a last minute visit to the Sistine Chapel. The unusual beasts and surreal hybrid animal imagery is what ended up serving as inspiration, along with the concept of putting emotional feeling and animal gut instinct first over practicalities when designing.
The collection as a whole was heavy on feathers and birds—all made from styrofoam, silk fibers, resin, paint and pearls. Magically surreal and beautifully bold, they challenge even the most absurd line between fashion and art. Elsa Schiaparelli famously loved lobster and bug motifs. So Roseberry’s hyper realistic birds feel like the perfect tribute to the designer’s surreal world.
If couture is a dream then these shoes are the ultimate manifestation.
