If you lived through the early 2000s, you probably remember Anna Sui makeup. Unmistakable for the incredible, iconic packaging, the boho fashion designer made everything from nail polishes, to lipsticks and highly-pigmented glitter eye shadows. Today, Anna Sui makeup is just as amazing but a little more hard to find.
The best place to find Anna Sui’s makeup is on her website or at her highly decorative NYC boutique in Soho. Near the front of the store, you’ll find a little section devoted entirely to Anna Sui makeup and cosmetics. Think: metallic purple lipsticks shaped like roses with Victorian packaging. Or, cute little mascaras in unusual shades such as yellow or white. Anna Sui even makes skincare and perfume, and you can find everything from her stunning perfume bottles marked with unicorns and mermaids to her different toner lotions in colorful little bottles that act as trinkets for your beauty collection.
What I love most about Anna Sui makeup is the fact that every single thing she produces is so beautiful and such a nice little object. The packaging really speaks for itself and it’s playful and unafraid to conform to the minimalist beauty packaging that so many brands gravitate towards in 2020.
In early 2020, I stopped by Sui’s store in Soho to stop on some of her new makeup: white mascara, glitter eye pigment, bright purple lip gloss and the aforementioned flower lipstick. I’ve been thinking about going back ever since. Luckily, Anna Sui releases a new cosmetics collection every season. After seeing so many new beauty brands that all look that same, her collection really is a breath of fresh air. I wish she would expand it even more and sell at more retailers.
